Help on Help on NBRF/PIR format

An NBRF/PIR file usually has the extension ".pir". The PIR files produced do not contain annotation information. The format is very simple. It looks like this:

> ?type, 2 characters? ; ?something?
?sequence name?
?sequence?*
?type, 2 characters? ; ?something?
?sequence name?
?sequence?*

The ?type? on the first line contains either 'DL' for a nucleic acid sequence, and 'P1' for protein sequences. ?something? is not used by DCSE. The ?sequence? can be in any format. Only alphabetical characters and gap symbols are looked at. The sequence must end with a '*'.
